Try these string dampeners for $5. They offer good shock absorption without taking away too much feel from your strings. The only negative is that if you break them, they will explode with some gel that is pretty hard to get out - just throw them away if one breaks.
Tourna Grip - the original blue gripI have been using these for years and keeps your hands dry without feeling too much like plastic. You'll want to change the grip whenever it starts to turn purple or starts to get ripped up a bit. This is a 30-grip package which is the best value for the money.
Tourna Grip XLIf you use extended rackets, I would suggest getting the longer Tourna Grip XL version.
